MEET JUDGE RAMONA FRANKLIN 

Judge Ramona Franklin is a judge that ensures Blindfold Justice...One Case At A Time In Her Courtroom.

Judge Ramona Franklin is the presiding judge for the 338th Criminal District Court in Harris County. As a judge Ramona Franklin ensures, “Blindfold Justice”, for everyone in her courtroom. Judge Franklin is passionate about balancing the court appointment system, balancing the criminal court system from debtor’s court to reasonable bonds and ensures that all persons accused of a crime in her courtroom receives fair justice regardless of who is representing them. Judge Franklin is also fulfilling her campaign promises by ensuring that all sentences in her courtroom all equally granted.  

What is the “Blindfold Justice” approach? The “Blindfold Justice” approach is employing the tenets of Lady Justice. Lady Justice’s blindfold represents the concept that justice is or should be determined objectively, without fear or favour, regardless of money, wealth, fame, power, fairness or identity and impartiality. The community has an extreme distrust of the criminal justice system because too many judges fail to use the “Blindfold Justice” approach. Judge Ramona Franklin is committed to instilling confidence back into the community’s perception of the Harris County Criminal Justice System particularly the 338th Judicial District Court. Judge Ramona Franklin bases her rulings from the Texas Constitution and United States Constitution. Judge Franklin employs her biblical principles by handing down appropriate and fair sentences with a hand of grace, toughness and compassion.  

Judge Ramona Franklin is a native Floridian but has resided in Texas since 2001. Judge Franklin resides in Katy, TX and has been a member of Brookhollow Baptist Church-Church Without Walls for 13 years. Judge Franklin graduated from Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Minor in Criminal Justice. Following her graduation from Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University she pursued a Masters of Science in Sports Administration from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL. Immediately following her graduation from Lynn University Ramona pursued her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI.

Judge Ramona Franklin started her legal career at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office before entering into private practice in 2006. Judge Franklin’s private practice handled a variety of legal cases but primarily focused her practice on zealously advocating criminal cases. Judge Franklin is uniquely qualified for this position because she has been a representative on both sides of the law. Her unique experience has afforded Judge Ramona Franklin a keen and unique experience that has been beneficial to every defense attorney, prosecutor, defendant, victim and juror that has been in her courtroom.

Judge Ramona Franklin has appeared on two weekly radio shows entitled, "Don't Judge Me," on KVRN Radio and "The Law: Inside & Outside The Courtroom", on KJOZ Radio. Her shows informed, educated and empowered her listeners about the Criminal Justice Court System and many other relevant Criminal Justice Issues.

Judge Ramona Franklin has been an Adjunct Professor at Remington College, Houston, TX with a main concentration on Criminal Justice Studies. Judge Franklin is passionate about serving the Harris County Community and has volunteered in the Houston Volunteer’s Lawyer Program, NAACP Pro Bono Legal Defense Program and the Diamond In the Rough Mentor Program.

Judge Ramona Franklin is a member of Brookhollow Baptist Church and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
